If I upload bigger pictures to WP, e.g. a.jpg, WP generates

    a-scaled.jpg
    a-1920×1100.jpg
    a-100×100.jpg

of course depending on the plugins, etc.

When I re-generate then via this plugin here, it generates:

    a-scaled-1920×1100.jpg
    a-scaled-100×100.jpg

    what is wrong, isn’t it?

    Hi,

Without looking deep into the issue, I can tell you that Perfect Images doesn’t actually handle the creation of those thumbnails – it just triggers the fact that they are re-created.

That said, the process around “-scaled” is so new and weird that I wouldn’t be surprised that they have a bug around it.

Did you encounter the same issue if you try with the plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails”?

Not tested yet with the other plugin. And I double-checked now and it does not happening all the time. Sometimes I have the wrong

    a-scaled-1920×1100.jpg
    a-scaled-100×100.jpg
    etc.

afterwards in parallel to the already existing

    a-1920×1100.jpg
    a-100×100.jpg

and sometimes only the right ones. Suspecious. And esp. I think, that there is waste of files afterwards, which are not referred afterwards. Don’t think, that WP then uses a-scaled-1920×1100.jpg and a-1920×1100.jpg in parallel.

If you say, that you are only calling WP function, then I wonder, why the re-generation is working in seconds, while the same generation during upload of pictures lasts sometimes minutes. Are this really the same function in current WP version used by WP and your plugin(s)?
