In the Advanced Settings, you can select Default category select with the option of “Hide”.

That correctly stores the value of “hide” in fps_default_cat_select in the gamma_options table in option_name:frontier_post_general_options

However, the Category box doesn’t disappear!

That setting in my case is in frontier_post_form_standard.php. The problem is that the decision on whether to display category is being based on $tmp_tax_layout. $tmp_tax_layout comes from $tax_layout_list, which in turn comes from frontier_custom_tax and frontier_custom_tax_layout, neither of which is fps_default_cat_select

The value of $tmp_tax_layout comes back as “multi” (which is probably a default value set somewhere?) so the Categories never disappear.

In a related note, setting frontier_custom_tax_layout=”hide” as a shortcode value doesn’t appear to resolve the issue.
