When the ampersand is in the title of the restaurant, the email to inform the client of this booking (which typically includes the name of the restaurant), comes out with the subject & instead of just &.

It’s of course very ugly to send new clients an email like that. Is there a way to go around this?

    Thanks.

  • Hi jbx,

I believe this may be because of the way that WordPress stores some characters of the site title in the database. I ran across this before with apostrophes.

Have you tried entering in a custom subject title under Bookings > Settings > Notifications. I can’t quite remember, but I vaguely recall that the apostrophe issue only happened with the default message (which pulls the site name automatically).

Yes you are right. If I customise the subject myself it is then stored correctly. It is the default one that does not work properly.

I don’t know, maybe makes sense to actually save the default subject field on plugin installation, so that it is saved in the right way.

I will set this to resolved since for my case I managed to find a solution.

    Hi jbx,

Glad the manual save worked out for you. I don’t want to save the setting on installation because it won’t then update if a user decides later to change the site name.

In the rare cases it’s been a problem most users have been able to do what you’ve done and just overwrite it with their own setting.
