  • I’m not the plugin author, but I just checked my own site (WP 4.3.1), and EF seems to work fine here. So maybe you have some plugin that messes things up? Or a caching issue?

First of all I would try to run the site (on an offline localhost on your computer) without other plugins and/or with another theme. So you can hopefully narrow down the issue.

BTW, I had a look on your Pluto page and the pattern seems to be different there:

You have 8 footnotes on that page and at the bottom they are not only doubled but repeated exactly 5 times (40 footnotes at the bottom). The numbering in the body starts with the 2nd iteration (#17).

Hmm I’ve tested a few sites on WordPress 4.3 and it seems to be working as expected. The most likely scenario is that something in your theme or another plugin is causing an issue with the plugins use of the apply_filters(‘the_content’) function. Are you also using the most up to date version of the plugin?
