Support » Theme: Hemingway » Bug: Comments closed on new posts (but enabled in admin)

  • Since yesterday / today new published posts on our family blog are published with “Comments closed”.

All global settings and setting on post (edit) have commments enabled. Also haven’t been changed recently.
When you add a comment via post edit in admin, other users can add comments via site as well.

Also when I put site in Live preview of different theme (ex. Twenty Sixteen) the comment area is displayed as expected.

Other plugins enabled on site that affect default behavior:
    – Ultimate member (updated yesterday)
    – Adminimize

I updated to latest version (1.64) today, but this had no effect.

    Hi @wpcubus,

The comment section is working as expected for me. Are you running a child theme? Can you post a link to the site?

    Hey Anders,

    Thanks for quick response!
Will not be able to share link to site unfortunately. It’s a private family blog.

I used the Hemingway theme, no child theme and no modifications made.
Problem was solved by switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme.
Site is running latest WordPress version 4.9.6 (GDPR update)

Maybe a PHP conflict? Server is still on version 5.5.38
