BuddyPress Profile Completion plugin support
-
Hello,
Please can you add support for this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-profile-completion/, The BuddyPress Profile Completion plugin forces buddypress users to upload their profile photo but when your plugin is active users are not being forced to upload their photo again there is some kind of conflict, its as if your plugin has already uploaded the profile photo for users when they have not.
Thanks

I think when leira letter avatar is active the BuddyPress Profile Completion plugin detects users as having uploaded their profile photo even though they haven’t.
Hi @teeboy4real
I will check it as soon as posible and try to make it compatible with the plugin you mention.
Please stay tune@teeboy4real
I released version 1.2.1, the plugin is now compatible with “BuddyPress Profile Completion”. Your comments pointed me to the right direction to find the issue.
Please consider giving us a review. It will help us a lot-

Jan Dembowski. Reason: Deleted review link with ?filter-5 on it
@arielhr1987 Don’t put
?filter=5
in your review links, it hides the non-5 star reviews from the person who uses that link and that’s not being completely honest. That’s not necessary as the stars default to 5 for all new reviews. The reviewer would manually need to change it to something other than 5 if they wanted to.I’ve removed that link. They’ll see the actual reviews and not just the 5 star ones if they visit the reviews.
@arielhr1987 The recent update did not solve the problem, buddypress profile completion still detects newly registered users as having uploaded their profile photo when they have not.
Kindly test it
Thanks
Hi @teeboy4real i tested the plugin with a fresh installatioan of buddypress and profile completion. With default settings. Do you have you any other plugins or an special configurtion set, i will need your help to understand the situation.
I am reopening the issue…The profile completion plugin stores a meta on new profile photo upload. So I think leira avatar plugin should store this meta.
Im not really sure how the set up is but maybe this link can help https://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/buddypress-profile-completion-and-buddypress-force-profile-photo/
Thanks, i will take a look.
Quick question, the problem you are having is for newly created user? Does it work ok with old users? It does not work for old user too, not working at all
I contacted the developer of buddypress profile completion and he mentioned the statement below
(1. It depends on the leira avatar plugin. If they provide us a function to check if current user is using letter avatar or not. That will be sufficient for us to add compatibility.)
This statement is from the last chat here https://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/change-buddypress-force-profile-photo-plugin-redirection/
IF the needed function can be provided here I will send it to him so he can also add support from his side

Good day sir,
Any update on the function to check if current user is using letter avatar or not.
The buddypress profile completion developer is waiting for a feedback so he can add support for your plugin
Thanks
Hi @teeboy4real
The buddypress core function “bp_get_user_has_avatar” is the function you are looking for. If this function returns false and you have Leira Letter Avatar plugin active them it means user is using a letter avatar.
This method is used by BuddyPress Profile Completion core functionality and i added support for it in release 1.2.1.
In the other hand, I was checking everything during the weekend to determine what could be happening with your site. What i think is happening is as follows: Buddypress Profile Completion saves a metatag once a user profile is complete, at the moment you installed Leira Letter Avatar, there was no compatibility between both plugins, so Profile Completion was taking the letter avatar as a user uploaded avatar, therefore, user metatag was set as well. A solution it could work is basically delete manually this metatag for all users, running a simple SQL script (dont worry Profile Completion will re add this metatag automatically) and the other option is to create a simple function to bypass this metatag to tell Profile completion if user really have or not uploaded an avatar, i could help you with it.
I hope it helps, let me know if you have any updates.Hello,
Support has been added by buddydev at https://github.com/buddydev/bp-profile-completion
I tested it and it works perfectly but im not sure if this github version has been added to the wordpress.org repository. Thanks
Hi @teeboy4real
Do you mean leira letter avatar github version or buddypress profile compeltion?
In any case our integration was deployed to wp repository since 1.2.1 versionI meant buddypress profile compeltion github version was updated to be more compatible to your plugin
I installed the plugin, activated it, but I don’t see it in the widgets. And I don’t see it on my registration form. I looked for answers. I know I’m missing a step.
Please advise.
Thanks!
Matt
