BuddyPress problem

I’m using BP 1.6.5 and users login against active directory with this awesome plugin. The problem is that, although it works perfectly with multisite, users who I add locally are not invisible to BuddyPress. LDAP accounts work fine but outside users don’t show up in the friends list and can’t join or leave groups.

Any suggestions?
