[resolved] Buddypress + Events Manager Conflicting with Redirects (9 posts)

I have been using Buddypress 2.0.1 and Events Manager 5.5.3.1 for weeks without problem.

I noticed today that I'm getting some weird redirects that disappear WHEN I deactivate EM. This only seems to have started happening in the last few days. Coincidentally we have really been loading up EM with events ... this is all I can think of that is different.

For example, with EM active ...
    a) At my groups page at http://rejoiceinthemission.org/groups/
    b) I hover over the anchor text to the first group "Advance the Vision" and I see the link to http://rejoiceinthemission.org/groups/advance-the-vision/ (here's a screenshot that shows the link in firebug too!)
    c) I click on the link and I am redirected to http://rejoiceinthemission.org/events/advance-the-vision/ <-- note --> 'events'

If I deactivate EM, I am directed to the correct page!

    Anyone else having problems?

    hi,

(if possible) can you try to temporarily do the following to narrow down the problem:

    - deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    - switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

So I'm trying to debug this.

I am using twentythirteen and my own child theme - with this combo I get the strange re-directions. However, if I use the 'Live Preview' for my child from Admin/Appearance/Themes and follow the same links the problem doesn't occur in the right-hand frame.

I have also activated just the twentythirteen theme, and then just the buddypress base theme v1.9, and get the same symptoms, that is: weird redirections on the live site, but all ok in 'Live Preview'.

Moving on to try to eliminate the other plugins.

Does wordpress datestamp installation date/time of plugin installation somewhere ... this would be a useful way to reverse the install order of plugins.

AFAIK, WordPress doesn't keep a record of installation dates of plugins.

Have you tried testing without using a child theme?

See above. Maybe it wasn't clear. Tested several scenarios without child theme.

    It's a plug-in conflict. Nextgen.

Used ftp to view ... most recent change dates for folders. Uninstalled Nextgen 2.0.66 plug in, which was most recent. Now no problems.

Don't know if it's Nextgen + em, Nextgen + BP, or both that causes conflict.

I don't NEED Nextgen so I disabled that.

Might be worth checking with NextGen support to see if they're aware of the issue and can offer any help.
