Support » Plugin: User Role Editor » BuddyBoss User Roles – Groups admin?

  • Hi there,

I am running BuddyBoss (Buddypress fork) and would like to configure a user role that allows a user to manage social groups/forums – create, delete, update, manage etc.

From the URE dashboard, I only see “group type” roles as available, but nothing pertaining to actual managing groups themselves. Also the bbPress role is set to “participant” and read-only. I actually don’t see anything specifically for managing BuddyBoss.

What do I need to configure this? Does it have anything to do with whether the user is an administrator, editor, contributor, or subscriber? I’m currently seeing these issues using “editor”

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Quick search through the older copy (2019) shows that BuddyBoss uses ‘manage_options’ user capability when checks access to some critical options, the same way as BuddyPress itself does.

Thanks! Does this mean I do not need to set “administrator”, I can use “editor” with “manage_options”?

As a suggestion, it might be useful to have clearer “human readable” descriptions for the Buddypres/Buddyboss capabilities, beyond “manage options”.

    Thanks!
