 * I am hosted on Synthesis and use Cloudflare, would brute really add that much
   more other than being able to make settings at blog back end for login attempts
   etc?

 * That is indeed the main functionality of the plugin: block hackers after too 
   many login attempts. And because this plugin uses .htaccess to block an IP, it
   gives you the best protection possible.
