I am actually thinking of switching functionality plugin as it’s almost unusable, I can’t work with it anymore! It happens sometimes (but enough to make it annoying) both Chrome and Firefox both on local installs and remotely. After saving or updating, the code saves but I have to wait for the browser to crash or in the case of Firefox, I have to stop the page from continually refreshing and press the back button to see if it actually saved!

  • Same issue here…

I click on save and activate and the page load indefinitely.
And my website is loading without end.

Can the plugin author help us with that issue?

    I’m on WordPress 5.0.3 myself

    Hello,

I would love to help you with the issue. Unfortunately, I have not experienced this issue, and so it is difficult for me to figure out a solution.

Could this be due to a conflict with another plugin? Can you try activating Code Snippets by itself and seeing whether this issue is still occuring? Does it occur when trying to save an inactive snippet, or only when the snippet is active or being activated?

    Hello,

I’m finding the same issue, browser craches/freezes. Its been for a few months now using different devices, across several sites. I’m running the latest / greatest WP (5.0.3) and Code Snippets (2.13.0) versions.\

I have not had a chance to extensively troubleshoot this plugin, but part of the challenge is that it happens often, but not everytime. I have not found a pattern, it looks so far to be inconsistent.

So far, I believe I’m seeing this occur only when saving an active Snippet, however I just did quick saves on both an active and an inactive snippet five times, and it didn’t occur. So it might occur for both.

That said however, I would gather if others of finding the same issue, it might point to an issue with the plugin.

    Thanks,

I have experienced it with a vanilla WordPress install too. If it was a conflict with another plugin, it would happen all the time, I guess. But this thing has its own mind!

Yeah happened to me again… I couldn’t close at all my browser tab :/

Hi there, same here with WP 4.9.x and WP 5.0.x, clean install, all default plugins removed, latest Version of Code Snippets (Nginx, PHP 7.3).

In addition to my previous post: Same on Raspberry PI (DietPI, lightspeed httpd)

@bungeshea Perhaps a hint: If I close/end my snippet with “?>” everything seems to work. But I don’t know, if that is a real solution…?

Does anyone know some steps I might be able to take to reproduce this problem on my own site?

Same issue for me. Wish I could be more helpful. No discernible pattern, other than it’s more frequent with new additions than edits. Might be less frequent when I move the cursor into another field (tags) before saving, but can’t be sure. Using all the default settings of your plugin. WP 5.0.3 and Woocommerce 3.5.4. Cloudways Vultr same as enthousiastwpuser.

@bungeshea It can be easily reproduced on a fresh “Ubuntu 18.04 LTS” install with EasyEngine 4. Do you have the possibility to test this?

Thank you for that @rerdmann; I’ll spin up a vagrant box and see if I can reproduce the problem.

It’s so hard to reproduce! The best way, I think is to write a script and save it, then keep pressing the save button. You might see the freeze after a few saves.

    Hello everyone,

I’ve just released version 2.13.1, which removes a bit of code which I think may have been the cause of these saving problems.

If you could try out the new version and see whether it fixes things, I would really appreciate it.
