 * I searched on this and came up with a post that said to change /Settings/General/
Wordpress Address from localhost to my domain name. I did this and now I can’t
even get back into wp-admin. Instead of “www.mydomain.com”, it is sticking in
escape characters instead of the dot after www
 * I wanted to reply to the post that said to do this but the thread was closed.

 * Change the urls back. See [Changing_The_Site_URL](http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL)
for details of how to do this correctly without logging in.

 * I got the site url changed back to localhost using phpMyAdmin and opening the/
wordpress/wp_options table and editing the siteurl field back to localhost. That
allowed me to get back into localhost/wordpress/wp-admin and use that to change
the WordPress Address back to localhost.
 * But that still doesn’t solve my original problem with the browsers showing only
a text version of the page.
 * I think the problem starts with fact the I’m doing my own hosting on my personal
computer and I’m hosting my own website using my domain name. So in order to
host the blog site, I purchased another domain name and set it to forward to
   [http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/index.php](http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/index.php)
 * So, the question becomes, will this work and what settings to I use to get it
   to work?

 * Did you originally install using `localhost`? You cannot use `localhost` as part
of your site url if you want to be able to access the site from other computers.
_Every_ computer defines itself as `localhost`.
 * I’d suggest reviewing the relevant section of [Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress).

 * I’m quite willing to start over. Should I start using mydomain.com or the forwarded.
com domain? And how I start using a domain instead of localhost?
 * I guess I can start over by apt-get remove wordpress and then using phpMyAdmin
   to remove the database files.

 * Ideally, you should re-install WordPress using the domain name you intended to
use when the site is launched.
