    Hi,

I am currently using the latest version of Tablepress and WordPress. After using for a few days I have noticed that if I want to amend a tables structure by removing a column or row. If I highlight the column or row and then press the corresponding delete button it freezes my browser. I have been searching for solutions and have done the following to try to solve the issue:

Tried different browsers (Chrome & Edge)
    Disabled all browser extensions
Disabled all WordPress plugins I can
    Reinstalled browsers
    Reinstalled plugin
Attempted to check Chrome’s Console for errors

None of this has brought anything up that I can see and the error persists.

    Can anyone help any further?

    Many Thanks in advance

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

That sound strange. How big is this table? Can you maybe export the table to a CSV file, open and modify that in Excel, and then re-import the CSV file into TablePress?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

It is strange, it only happens when editing a table. You can however delete tables from the list of all tables. This happens on tables that are maybe 10 rows by 11 columns although I haven’t tried it on anything smaller. I spotted this on a rather large table of around 50 rows and 100 columns.

I am able to export and modify for now but obviously it would be far easier if the delete function was working when editing. I am yet to try the import but I assume if export works then import will.

The only thing I am a little unsure on is any JS errors

    Many Thanks

    Hi,

this shouldn’t really happen on small tables like this… Very strange. I can’t reproduce this on my test sites and I have not received other reports like this.

If you want, I can take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please get in touch via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Andy,

I’ve now had the chance to take a look at this on your site from two different computers, but I could not reproduce this on any of them :-/

I used that “Tobias” test table that you created and could easily select rows and columns (i.e. their checkboxes) and then use the “Selected rows/columns: Delete” buttons. The rows/columns were removed immediately, without any delays or the browser freezing.
Can you maybe try on a different computer as well?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

Thank you for taking a look as quickly as you have done. It makes sense now that you have not had reports about this before now. I have tried another computer as you suggested and surprise surprise it works fine. It looks like this may be an issue on my laptop only. My dialogue box asking for confirmation does not seem to be appearing in Chrome nor Edge yet using the same versions on another computer works.

I don’t suppose you have any idea what could be causing this as I have no popup blockers etc installed?

    Many Thanks

    Hi Tobias,

Things get a little stranger. I actually replied to your previous response t say that after trying a different laptop all was working fine on that one. after much digging around resetting internet options and resetting chrome settings I got internet explorer working. In the end it turns out that the later versions of Chrome have hardware acceleration turned on by default which is stopping the JS modal boxes from appearing. After turning this off all is working fine on my laptop.

Many thanks for your time and effort with the plugin itself and your support. I will donate very shortly.

    Hi,

yeah, really strange thing then… Thanks for your investigations on this! Good to hear that it’s working again now! 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
