Support » Installing WordPress » Browser cannot find localhost after computer is restarted

  • I have installed the Bitnami wordpress stack on my mac. I arrived at the welcome page and clicked ‘access bitnami wordpress stack’. Everything looked as it should. I retarted my computer and my browser cannot find local host. this is the actual message

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:8080.

for the record I don’t know why there is the 8080 extention as I did not type it in originally. Very new to this. Help is appreciated.

  • It sounds like the server is not starting when you power up your computer. Whether you want it to do that or start it manually depends on what you want.

You could ask this question in the BitNami forums. They might be able to better help you as it is their stack.

You may just need to restart your local server before you can access localhost.

Bitnami isn’t a localhost server; it’s an App stack. You need to bookmark the login URL in Firefox. Check the bitnami forums.

Yes the servers need to be restarted manually after reboot. Got help from bitnami forum I will post link below for anyone else with this problem.

Bitnami has posted an updated version of wordpress with a handy control panel to start the servers. Works great.

    Thanks for input.
