    Hi,

WP error log contains several hundred of these lines:

[06-Jul-2021 08:35:35 UTC] PHP Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in /home/mmwbnl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/src/generators/schema/breadcrumb.php on line 106

We are sorry to hear that you’re still having trouble with our plugin. Due to the nature of the issue, we’ll need to take a look at your setup. However, we are unable to do it here as this is a public forum.

So, if you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription or if you can consider buying one, we can investigate the issue further directly on your setup privately through email.

However, if you don’t wish to get the Yoast SEO Premium subscription, that’s completely fine. In this case, you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue further on your setup as we are literally out of any clue at this moment without taking a look at the setup. So, someone from the community might step forward as well who has experienced or familiar with the issue.

    Thanks for your understanding!

    Hi,
as I don’t use breadcrumbs (disabled), I’d rather have the JSON not added to my pages/posts.

To further investigate, could you answer my previous question?

What should be the correct code in below example?
In other words, what should be on the place of “item” on “position” 2 & 3 instead of “/”?

    {“@type”:”BreadcrumbList”,”@id”:”https://www.mmwb.nl/mannen-mv/w-x-y-z/wolf-ruben/#breadcrumb”,”itemListElement”:[{“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:1,”name”:”Home”,”item”:”https://www.mmwb.nl/”},{“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:2,”name”:”Mannen (m/v)”,”item”:”/”},{“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:3,”name”:”W X Y Z”,”item”:”/”},{“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:4,”name”:”Wolf, Ruben”}]}

    Thanks in advance

    Hi @mmwbadmin,

Thanks for making that more clear. Are you using any of the Yoast SEO filters or APIs to add your custom BreadcrumbList schema data? If you’re adding it manually or using another plugin, sadly, it’s a bit out of our scope of what we can offer on the forums to troubleshoot custom code.

You can find more information and code examples in the developer documentation for the Yoast Schema API if you’d like to consider using it.

It also happens on a page where I did not add any JSON:

    https://www.mmwb.nl/annex/boeken-films/

The “Breadcrumblist” contains an invalid /

    Hi @mmwbadmin

Upon checking https://www.mmwb.nl/annex/boeken-films/, we do see that the 2nd list item is showing a value for the ‘item’ of “/” when it should be the unmodified canonical URL of that category page, as per the breadcrumb piece documentation here.

You can refer to our Schema API here if you want to make any modifications to the default schema graph output.

As mentioned, we’d really need to take a closer look at your website and setup (which would require Yoast SEO Premium), which we are unable to do so over these public forums.

So we recommend that you reset the indexables and re-run the SEO data optimization.

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations’ button. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that each reset was successful. Note: this won’t actually erase your SEO data, which is also stored in WordPress’ default tables. It’ll just reset our index (custom tables) for that data.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

For your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before installing, updating or removing plugins. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

If that doesn’t fix it, perform a conflict check. If you are still able to reproduce the issue with a default set-up on WP 5.7.2, a WP theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only Yoast SEO for WordPress v16.6.1 as the only plugin enabled, we recommend that you log a bug report – https://yoast.com/help/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/

    Hi,
Still puzzles me that this error does not occur on posts, only on pages (see above)

For posts the breadcrumb – which I disabled – looks fine (according to Google)

    "BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://www.mmwb.nl/cdu-csu-bondsdagleden-verdienden-tonnen-aan-mondkapjes/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://www.mmwb.nl/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"CDU/CSU Bondsdagleden verdienden tonnen aan mondkapjes"}

    Any idea?

We are afraid to say that we are out of clue at this point and can’t confirm anything without taking a deeper look (as mentioned already.)

    Hi,
I’ll leave it for now. I don’t use breadcrumbs on my site and I hope you will take out the generated JSON-code for users like myself that have DISABLED breadcrumbs in the Yoast SEO settings.

    (@mikes41720)

    Hi,

We’ve added your feedback to our internal report about disabling the breadcrumb schema if you’ve disabled the breadcrumbs in the Yoast SEO settings. We’ll be leaving this thread open for 7 days, in case any other users or readers would like to provide feedback or suggestions for this issue.

As mentioned, you can always use our schema API to modify any of our schema output (as well as disable the schema output entirely, if that’s your choice) – https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/api

    Thanks!
