Hello, I finally got my website up and running thanks to the Vantage theme. But about 10 minutes ago, I went to “customize” underneath “Theme” in the “appearance” tab and I got a login prompt. It just kept asking me to log in. Now, my widget icons are not working properly. The “search” magnifying glass that was at the top of my page also quit working, but I just removed that since I had no use for it anyway.

I’m a first timer, so please be gentle with the technical lingo. I can follow instructions well, but I’m about as confused as it gets. There is supposed to be a YouTube Icon on the left, and a $ on the right. Again, they were working not but 10 minutes ago.

I tried to change the icons to something different, but I’m still getting those little squares with numbers inside.

I really appreciate your taking the time to help.

    Sincerely,
    DJ

  • Hi DJ

Glad to see your site is coming along.

Menu icons and Circle Widget icons seem to be rendering nicely now. Did the problem resolve itself?

It did, I apologize for not having updated this post.

I later ran into a bigger issue that caused fatal error and my back up failed, so I had to start over from scratch.

The only issue I seem to be running into on occasion is that the tab icons don’t work properly on the initial visit (appear to be little empty boxes) until navigated somewhere on the website. But this is a minor issue so I haven’t really worried myself with it.

Regarding the circle icons, all is well =).

Sorry again for not having updated this post as resolved. As it the OP has been fixed. I’d rather have this topic deleted than marked as “resolved” in that I can’t provide an actual solution to the problem. I think any independent self educated developer would agree that little is more annoying than doing a google search to troubleshoot our problem and get a post without a resolution =).

    Thanks!

Ahh that’s not nice. Sorry to hear about it. Glad you had the energy to rebuild it all.

I see the occasional menu icon issue. It’s basically a delay in the Font Awesome icons being loaded. You could try:

    1. Try a caching plugin like WP Fastest Cache and see if that helps at all.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fastest-cache/

    2. Try a plugin called Menu Icons instead of our menu icons, see if it loads any better.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-icons/

Please can you check the right column of this forum thread for me. I’m not the developer so I unfortunately don’t have the ability to resolve. I can get Greg to resolve this for us if you aren’t . I don’t think delete is an option but it’s worth looking.

Unfortunately I’m not capable of marking it resolved, and you’re right that there’s no delete option.

It took some ambition and about 30 hours of rebuilding (I’m a first time WordPress user) after the initial 115 hours it took to learn how to use it and so forth. But it turned out to be a good thing, and really ensured that I remembered everything I’d learned =)

Glad to hear you made positive progress there. Hopefully one of my menu suggestions helps.

    All the best.
