I was using Dark Coral up to this point at https://perfidy.press/. After previewing the Author Theme using the Customize sidebar, and having made some minor changes, I clicked Activate. After a minute I was told:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly
An error occurred during a connection to perfidy.press.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

The page in the address bar was https://perfidy.press/wp-admin/themes.php?page=author-options&author_status=activated

After that, every page on the site as well as admin pages unsuccessfully tried to redirect to that URL. I am at a loss as how to resurrect the site. I can fiddle with it over FTP, but have no clear idea what to look for or what to do that would not break the site in other ways.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Apparently, upon activating the theme, the page kept redirecting to itself. Even after I restored the most current backup, the error persisted. It required intervention by tech support from the hosting provider, namecheap.com, to get the site working. They reset the theme (to 2017). The platform may be the culprit, something they call EasyWP.com. It is still in beta and has had other issues during the past month. I believe I will port the site to their more stable shared hosting platform.

Hey sorry for the delayed response. I’m glad to hear you were able to get some help with the redirection error.

Since this error hasn’t come up for other Author users I’m inclined to believe it’s related to the hosting platform, but if you do experience this again please let me know and I will be happy to help.
