Hi Albert, I responded to your support request. It’d be great to find out where the conflict is and turn this bug into a wonderfully working plugin! Sorry about the hassle, I know how annoying these kinds of breaks can be.

No idea where it broke down. This plugin was the only thing to be updated at the time. After that the slideshows simply were not shown on the site. It came to my mind that I had the previous version in backups. So I simply replaced Version 2.3 with Version 2.2.5 at file level and since then it has been working fine. I only have to remember not to upgrade it by accident.

So glad to hear you found a way to not have to switch slideshows, I know that can be a hassle. I’d hate to have it so you can’t get the latest additions since I’ve recently added the feature where you can create a custom gallery from featured images of custom post types, and I’ve got more planned.

Are you using a custom Satellite gallery or are you pulling in the gallery from the WordPress gallery of a post? – want to make sure this issue isn’t widespread.

The gallery has been created under Satellite / Manage Galleries and was inserted into the two home pages (bilingual site using qTranslate Plus) using the following shortcode:
    [satellite gallery=1 auto=on caption=off thumbs=off]

Hmmm, I installed qTranslate plus and implemented the gallery the way you suggested on my development server and it seemed to work OK, other than scrolling through about 20 PHP errors from the qTranslate plugin (which could be the problem right there).

One area it could break is their could have been a javascript error on the page. Do you have a development server for your website where you could reactivate the slideshow and see if there’s a javascript error on the page? (right click-> Inspect Element -> Click the Console Tab) – Look for red errors that could make the slideshow not load.

Actually, on a different theme I wasn’t seeing the slideshow display initially after upgrading, but then after I re-saved the gallery in the Dashboard and refreshed the page it worked. That’s the next step I’d have you try.

    The fix is posted here:

Please re-upgrade to 2.3 and attempt this fix. If it is working I would be happy to have you reconsider the 1 star rating.

    Thank you!

I have upgraded to Version 2.3 this afternoon. The slideshow disappeared again and Inspect Element did not show anything, I am afraid. Then I re-saved the gallery under Satellite / Manage Galleries on the Dashboard, as you suggested, and saw that the slideshow worked again.

The slideshow was a top requirement from my client. Luckily, I spotted the problem before they could have noticed it so there was no damage on that side.

Thanks for taking the time to fix it. I am changing my rating from 1 to 4 to reflect that it has caused some annoyance and also to acknowledge your tenacity to deal with it. Thank you!
