Support » Plugin: WP Mail SMTP by WPForms » FIXED: Broke the WP_Mail Function

  • After unsuccessfully trying this plugin which I couldn’t get to work due to google. I deactivated it and found that a php file that was working with WP_Mail() to my domain email addresses no longer worked. I uninstalled the plugin and the php file still doesn’t send the email even though it worked before I installed plugin.

The plugin makes changes to files and settings that it doesn’t restore after deactivating or uninstalling.

    Not cool.

    EDITED:
After the support staff response (Thank you for the speed!) and contacting my host, who told me everything looked good on their end, my mail() and wp_mail() functions just magically started working again.

Thanks to the support staff here for the speedy response!

    Hi @xyle,

We do not modify any php files, at all, anywhere.
When WP Mail SMTP plugin is deactivated – it has some records in DB, but they are not used and cannot be used by a plugin, because the plugin is not loaded at all by WordPress.
When WP Mail SMTP plugin is deleted (and you can optin to delete with all of its settings) – nothing is left anywhere in your system.
WP Mail SMTP can’t restore anything, because it does NOT modify the way your Google account or WordPress itself work.
You or anyone else can review the plugin code and make sure that what I said is valid.

So your issue is definitely NOT caused by WP Mail SMTP plugin.
Review all the steps you performed when you tried to make our plugin work, perhaps you switched off or on something in your Google account or on your server.
