# Broke what wasn’t broken

 * Gutenberg broke the ability to select custom templates under the Page Attributes
   meta box (while editing a page in the admin). I spent several hours trying to
   figure out why I couldn’t select custom templates any more (i.e., switched themes,
   downgraded from 4.9.8, etc.). Only after deactivating Gutenberg was the problem
   solved.
 * Not only did Gutenberg attempt to fix what wasn’t broken, it broke what wasn’t
   broken…

 * [@uptree](https://wordpress.org/support/users/uptree/) page templating should
   work, that sounds like a bug could I dig a little more into why that didn’t work
   for you. Are you using other plugins perhaps that I could also to try and recreate?
