    Hi,

I’m in search of a plugin that would allow the submission of a global post that spans across all blogs within a WPMU installation. There were two which I found that provide this function: Broadcast MU and Multipost MU respectively.

After reading the FAQ of each it came to mind that each lacked a “valuable” feature of the other. With Broadcast MU a user is able to choose which sub-blogs the post will display on, whereas with Multipost MU the user cannot. Vice-versa, Multipost MU allows a user to modify or delete a post from all sub-blogs simultaneously, and such is not possible using Broadcast MU.

My concern is with the option to have one of these plugins adopt the lacking feature of the other so as to receive the best of both in features. I understand that each is maintained by a different author…thus, it could require permission – if not collaboration to implement the code structures from whichever.

I’d be grateful to receive feedback from the authors of these the two plugins in question, if possible.

    Thanks.

    Hi guys,
Really glad to head you’re going to join forces on this.

I’m developing a community news website and using Multipost to syndicate content out to all the blogs / town websites. It’s really excellent.

I do have one feature request though. Any chance this could somehow tie in with the Blog Types plugin? I’d really like to be able to easily syndicate content to specific blogs i.e. in a specific county. Blog types lets me categorise them but I haven’t figured a way to tie with Multipost.

Any suggestions, ideas or (please please) allow for this in your next round of dev. Cheers!

    Oops, double posted. Sorry πŸ™‚

My plugin could probably be added to the mix.

I wish the ThreeWP could broadcast pages also.

    Hi,
I’d like to merge the plugins so I can post on multiple sites and have all post content, I mean thumbnail and custom fields too. Right now I can post on multiple sites and grab only Title, Cat, Content.

I think with the new WP3 Network is necessary have a multipost option which post all the content of a single post. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense if you have to rewrite custom fields and add thumbnail for each post. I could rewrite title, content and cat as well without use these plugins…

Let me know if you guys found a solution that works.

I’m working on a project with more than 10 sites and so many posts so you can understand my need.

    Hi jumust,

I also need this same functionality.
I am using ThreeWP Broadcast plugin and it allows me to broadcast posts to particular blogs, but when it broadcast the post, it doesn’t broadcast the custom fields content and i am using more fields plugin for extra custom fields so I need to have that custom fields content.

I also tried Multipost-MU plugin, which broadcast all custom fields except fetured images. So it doesn’t display featured image in sub-blogs.

Have you found any solution for that? If yes, then please write the solution here.

    Thanks in advance,
    Arpita

    Hi arpitap,
I’m really in trouble because I can’t find a solution for that…that’s crazy because WP3 Multisite is a new feature to use WP as CMS and post on multi-sites, but finally it doesn’t work at all, and you still need to create manually all the posts for the other sub-blogs.

Hopefully anyone build a plugin for that! Thanks

Please let me know any progress so we can help each other.

    Cheers

I hope to add the attachment (featured image, etc) functionality to multipost-mu soon. I just need to carve some time to work on it.

    No, it is not.

Multisite is not a new feature 0 it is a merge of the wordpressmu codebase into core. It shared over 95% of the same wordpress code.

It’s purpose was to have multiple separate blogs – like wordpress.com, as this is what they use.

The more requests I get for the multipost plugin (just got an odd one this morning), the more I wonder if folks are just using it to pump out spammy blogs. Most unfortunate, if this is the case, as this was NOT to intent of the plugin.

My purpose is definitely to have separate blogs and not use this plugin for spam.
I’m building a websites community for a US State. They want to post all of the stuff happens in each single city within each single city-blog. But definitely there are events or shops, or etc… that need to be published on more than one city-site: EX. it’s like if you are from Seattle but you are pretty interested in what’s going on in Vancouver, so the concert is coming up, must be published on Vancouver site and obviously on Seattle site, too.
Hope it makes sense and let you understand why I need to broadcast posts with their custom fields.

    Thanks

Thanks for sharing your usage of the plugin. This is exactly the type of use I created it for in the first place.

FYI: Custom fields should already be working. What is missing is featured images and other attachments.

Thanks for reassuring me this is being used for good and not eville! πŸ˜‰

Ok, I hope you can edit your plugin and grab featured images too.
    Thanks

I worry about that too. πŸ™‚ Glad to hear it’s not the case.
