My server load went through the roof and nearly crashed the server.
I have a large forum running bbPess.
It seems wpForo attempts to do the migration when you simply activate it.
Thats a very bad idea. I got no warning and it nearly took my site down in production.
Table migration should only happen manually so we can prepare for it.
Anyway, decided against the software because of my other post. Cant use it without a redirect solution from bbPress.
Thought you would like the feedback though. Large forum owners and admins will be caught by surprise and be very angry if you start a migration this large without notification. If that is what is happening. I saw a ton of SQL queries that looked migration code running and the site was unusable.
Migration?
wpForo doesn’t do migration. Why you think it does migration?
wpForo doesn’t have migration functions. You should install a separate plugin for this:http://wpforo.com/community/migrate-to-wpforo-from-other-forum-plugins/migrate-to-wpforo-go2wpforo-tool/
I left a Doc URL, why you didn’t read it. It describes step by step what wpForo does on activation.
Also please explain what is the issue? Do you get error or so…?

Are you certain?
Because when I activated the plugin, CPU and query load went through the roof.
Then I stopped all web/mysql services, and restarted everything.
When I went into the database I saw that the
wp_wpforo_profiles table had over 9000 records in it, which is how many users I have in bbPress.
So if it wasnt doing some immediate conversion during activation, how did that table fill up with thousands of user records???

It’s already explained in doc, wpForo doesn’t migrate forums, topics or posts. It only builds User Profiles based on Users Table. This is the only heavy step. And this is not a migration. wpForo has extended User Profile and it needs to create users rows in _profiles table. It uses both _users table and _wpforo_profiles table.

wpforo triggers a fatal warning every time you activate it the first time, tested it on 3 different domains. Then the 2nd time you activate it, it works fine. Maybe something to do with having a lot of users? I have 90,000.
Please install the plugin and find the fatal error message. We can’t help you without seeing this message.
Please make sure the number of rows in _wpforo_profiles table is equal with _users table. I think the server resources and the executing Timout limit of your hosting service doesn’t allow wpForo complete this installation.
We’re planning to add a new tool for such cases to allow perform these step separately after installation, not on activation.
It works fine after the 1st activation, I can’t test it again because it’s already activated. The users match up so there are no problems. Just curious why it fails on the 1st activation. I set all my server resources in php.ini to wpforo requirements so I doubt it’s that.
