Support » Plugin: Featured Image From URL » Breaks Beaver Builder – when DEACTIVATED!!??

  • Resolved wasanajones

    here’s something you don’t hear everyday…

    probably not fair to point the finger at this plugin, but nonetheless it is at the center of a HUGE problem.

    beaver builder editor is broken unless FIFU is activated with a default URL set

    everything was working fine. activated FIFU added a default image url… also activated ‘featured image’ plugin to get shortcode — went into BB Themer to do a layout, the featured image shortcode (another plugin not this one) – wouldn’t display… hmmm I start poking around open new windows… looking at other pages just to see what’s going on… come back, white screen of death on the themer layout editor page… go to live site, go into beaver builder (pro) page editor and get js error and the top part of the editor is disabled – meaning can’t save or navigate…

    So I start deactivating plugins beginning with FIFU… I end up deactivating ALL plugins… clearing caches, clearing DB transients, optimizing/repairing the DB, re-installing Beaver Builder, reinstalling WordPress… everything I can think of… activating deactivating tons of plugins…

    so I realize I need to reconstruct from the point of fault…

    this is where it gets weird… right now —- if I enabled FIFU, beaver builder works again… but ONLY IF A Default external URL is added … I tried enabling the Fake image but no change

    hope you might have a notion how to fix this… this is the current error with no default image url and from where beaver builder breaks

    Hi, @wasanajones.

    I don’t know Beaver Builder but will take a look on your site. Please send access information to

    Are you there, @wasanajones?

    Try to remove the default external image and disable “Fake internal featured image” before deactivate FIFU.

    Hi –

    thanks for prompt reply –

    interesting idea but unfortunately it didn’t fix it

    I made sure all options turned off before deactivating

    cleared caches but still getting the javascript error – unless I have default external image

    I tried a few times

    thanks for the offer of taking a look – but I’m still sorting a few things out.

    one thing I did see is on the frontend (not in page builder) I’m getting a jquery error when FIFU is enable — Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined

    the semi-colon on the second line is getting flagged – disableClick($);
    found in featured-image-from-url\includes\html\js\image.js

    jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
    setTimeout(function () {
    jQuery(‘div.flex-viewport’).each(function (index) {
    jQuery(this).css(‘height’, ”);
    }, 500);

    function disableClick($) {
    if (‘1’) {
    jQuery(‘.woocommerce-product-gallery__image’).each(function (index) {

    This error means that FIFU is trying to execute a jQuery function but it doesn’t find jQuery on your site or found a too old version.

    When you have a time, please contact me by email. It’s faster.

    thanks –

    will do that

    I’d like to thank Marcel for his personal support in resolving this issue.
