I can understand your concern, let me clarify this:

The brands functionality introduced in 9.6.0 is automatically added to the product block on my site. I can’t edit it out.

To assist you better, could you please provide more details about what you want to edit regarding the brand features?

By default, when you assign a brand to a product, the brand title automatically appears in the product meta. However, if no brand is assigned to a product, it will not appear on the product page just like the product category

Currently, I’m not entirely sure which functionality has been added to the product block that you are unable to edit. Once we have more information, we can assist you accordingly.

How can I show the brand logo instead of the text?

By default, when you add a logo image for the brand, it will appear above the product title. However, the brand text will also be displayed in the product meta, as shown in the screenshot below:

If you want to remove the brand logo from the top of the product title and add the logo image in the product meta instead of text, this requires customization. Please note that we do not provide support for customizations. I can recommend WooExperts and Codeable.io as options for getting professional help. Alternatively, you can also ask your development questions in the  WooCommerce Community Slack as custom code falls outside our usual scope of support.

Adding brands has a bug where the brand logo persists after adding a brand and then trying to add another brand. I have to actively delete the image and add the correct image.

Issue regarding cannot edit brands in backend:
I have tried to replicate that issue on my site and I can see brands appear automatically under the SKU even if we do not add the brand block in the editor. However, If you want to hide that you can use the following CSS code.

.single-product span.posted_in {display:none;}

After that, you can use the Brand block to add the brand and customize it using the features available within the Brand block. I’ve created a short video to guide you on how to manually add the Brand block: https://go.screenpal.com/watch/cTVTXbnfuer.

Issue regarding logo:

Sorry for the confusion, upon further investigation I can see brand logo was appearing just because of the theme (storefront theme) I’m using on my site. I have change the site theme from classic theme to Block theme which support full site editor and I can see logo does not appear.
