• Hi all…
This is my first venture into added a blog to a website. Netfirms installed WordPress. I have no idea what version. But when I start reading the support pages and the forums…there are things they are saying that I don’t have.
First, I don’t have a dashboard. It’s not on my menu bar, no where. And I can not find anything about promoting users. Just roles.
HELP, please… head me in the right direction…like do I have to upgrade?
    Thanks so much!
    Lorraine

  • I can’t promise you anything good. Your host is notoriously bad for WP… especially if they installed it.
Anyway, the Dashboard is the “default” page where you go when you login as the admin of your blog:
    yourdomain.com/blog/wp-admin
In earlier versions there wan’t a Dashboard – but on the other hand, if you see Roles, it is a version that should have Dashboard (they go together).
When you are in your WP admin area, just scroll down to the bottom of the page: you’ll see your version #.

    Good reading about Roles:

I do believe I got a bad install from netfirms. When I’m in the admin area, if I scroll to the bottom of any page, all I see is WordPress, Documentation and support forums. I think they were supposed to install 2.0.
when I login, the landing page is “write”.
Reinstall version 2? Or do I have to do 1.5 and then upgrade?
    Thanks for the info

If you can get rid of their install and can do a manual install on your own – that would be the best.
Just make a fresh install of WP 2.0.2. – the latest.

    Or find a decent host.
