• Hello!

Hoping someone can help. The bounce rate for the site I manage is unusually low (under 1). Something happened to skew the results on the 12th December. I’ve been doing some research and it looks like it might be due to the tracking code being installed twice across the site – how can I check this?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi there,
Can you check your Google Tag Manager (GTM) container GTM-PFNM6M3 to make sure it doesn’t have the Google Analytics bundle in it

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for commenting. Sorry – you might need to break it down a bit – how do I check GTM container??

    Thanks, Caroline

    Hi Caroline,

If the only tag in that container is the Google Analytics tag, and you aren’t going to use any other tags at this time, you might want to remove the entire GTM tag from your website.

Typically, that code is found in your theme’s settings, or under Appearance > Editor > Header.php or in the Insert Headers and Footers Plugin (if you happen to have that plugin installed) or a similar plugin.

If, however, you have other tags in the Google Tag Manager container, then you would want to remove the Analytics Tag from within the GTM dialogue:

You’ll want to navigate to https://tagmanager.google.com/#/home.

Find the container that has GTM-PFNM6M3 (on the right at the above link) and click it.

    1. Click the Container Name.
    2. Click “Tags” on the Left.
    3. Then Click the Analytics Tag
    4. In the right hand corner: Click the three dots and then click delete on the drop-down.

    Thank you!
