# Bots/Brute Force

 * I put the free version of Surcuri on several client sites a month ago. Last night
   I went into three clients to make some edits. So I logged in, made my edits and
   about 5 minutes later, I got a email from the Sucuri plugin that there was a 
   failed attempt at logging in to that site. I then started getting them repeatedly.
   I didn’t think anything about it. When I edit the next two clients – the same
   thing happened. It’s almost like a common plugin or something is pinging out 
   there letting these bots know that I logged in. Has anyone ever heard of this?
   I ended up using the Stealth Login Page Plugin along with WP Recaptcha and WP
   Recaptcha for Login and I have the Limit Login Attempts activated.
 * I am trying to trouble shoot these sites to see if there is a common denominator
   or something causing them to attack once I go in and start editing.
 * Two clients are on Godaddy and the third is on ATT Hosting. So it’s not the hosting.

 * Thanks for responding. I’ve read a lot about that. Just interested in seeing 
   if others have had the same type of behavior and possibly how they have resolved
   it.

 * I would recommend ignoring those e-mails (and possibly telling your e-mail to
   auto delete them).
 * Brute force attempts are a fact of life when using any content management system.
   Unless your noticing unusual slowness on your site, just ignore them. Do keep
   all of your plugins up to date, and use a semi-strong password for the “admin”
   account.
