    Hello,
I have been using Evolve theme for the last 5 years, when I first used it, the slides on the bootstrap slider were free and I created 5 slides. Recently following an update to the theme, only the first two are editable and the remaining 3, I cannot edit.

I don’t feel this is right to have a feature then remove it later. Is there any workaround for this ? Can I go back to an older version of the theme, make the changes and update again ?

    Please advise

    Thanks
    Tim

Hi. I think you’ve written to our website already and I answered you. The Bootstrap slider slides aren’t free, this is one of the differences between the free version and the premium one. The free version allows only 2 slides. See the differences between the versions here at the bottom of the page: https://theme4press.com/evolve-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/ Several years ago we released an update that mistakenly removed this restriction, but it was fixed immediately in the next one or the one after that. It didn’t happen in s recent update, it has been years. Maybe you didn’t update the theme for a while, so this might have happened. Sorry that you feel that it is unfair, but it was a built-in difference from the beginning and in your case, it was probably an unlucky coincidence. There is no way to remove this restriction, sorry.

    Hi Evgeny,

Yes I have but haven’t received a reply hence me posting here.

It is odd that for a while (at least a year) we were able to update all slides. We update the site regularly. I feel that your company has lured customers to use the theme and then added restrictions later.

    Thank you

Luring customers on false pretenses wasn’t and isn’t our plan, of course. I am very sorry that this is how you feel. I explained what happened, not saying that the mistake wasn’t unfortunate, but it sure wasn’t intentional.
    Best,

You really had me doubt myself so I actually went back to 3.6.0 and verified that I can use all 5 slides with the free version then I checked 3.7.0 and it was the same and so was 3.8.0 and 3.9. They all allowed me access to the 5 slides. As per the logs, these versions spanned 2 years. It sure doesn’t sound like it was a mistake.

    Have a good day

Hi. Now you had me doubt it, so I went to the Web Archive to research it. And you are correct – before 4.0.6 it was possible to add 5 slides to the Bootslider and to the Parallax slider. In version 4.0.6, published on 02.2.2019 (more than three years ago), the number of slides in both sliders went down to 2. You are welcome to check the Webarchive yourself, here’s the page: https://theme4press.com/evolve-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/. I and my team took over this theme starting from version 4.1.3, months later, I wasn’t aware that the number of slides went down. The mistake I was talking about was on my watch – and we corrected it back to two, which was what we worked with from the start. The previous owner didn’t make a mistake, obviously, it was a business decision and a legitimate one – a restriction of 5 is hardly a restriction at all – it makes no sense. All I can do now is apologize again for the way you feel and if you are interested in more than two slides, I invite you to write to us on our main website – we are prepared to offer you a discount on our premium version. Have a nice day.

Thank you for clarifying and for your promptness, that is understood as a business decision and as a new owner you’d want to recoup your costs even though existing customers may get impacted.

Thank’s for the offer, I will consider if I need to upgrade.
