• Hello,

Being fairly new to wordpress I haven’t really explored yoast yet. I had a post that I gave a ‘Focus Keyword’ and the post was subsequently marked with a poor seo score. Below are some of the things the ‘Page Analysis’ is telling me:

“There are 0 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased.” – I can’t understand this as I’ve included the keyword in the text on a number of occasions.

“The keyword doesn’t appear in the first paragraph of the copy, make sure the topic is clear immediately.” – Again I have included the keyword in my first paragraph.

“A meta description has been specified, but it does not contain the target keyword / phrase.” – I’m not sure what this means! – please can someone advise.

Being new to WordPress and SEO I would appreciate some advice on this.

    Thanks.

I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/#postform so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

I’m not getting any answer on the other forum. Any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Ben

These two sound like bugs, so I’d consider re-posting, but instead of using “Boosting the yoast seo score from ‘poor'” as the subject (because of course the answer is to just follow Yoast SEO’s recommendations) try something like “SEO Recommendations Don’t Recognize Post Content”.

This might be related to the same bug. You have to make sure that Mmeta description you provide in the Yoast SEO options on the editor screen includes the focus keyword you set.

In short, these sound like bugs, so report them via https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/#postform as bugs, and you should catch their attention.
