Support » Plugin: Better Search » Boolean Search Operators not Working

  • I am using Better Search 2.2.0.
Enable mySQL FULLTEXT searching and Activate BOOLEAN mode are both checked.

However, the plus and minus boolean operators are not working as expected. Below are some search criteria and the search string that is generated.

    frank +sacks: ?s=frank+2Bsacks#
    frank -sacks: ?s=frank+-sacks#
    frank sacks: ?s=frank+sacks#
    “frank sacks”: ?s=”frank+sacks”#

A similar request was made by Barry Clasper two years ago.

That’s because of the filtering functions in there to sanitise the searches which is something I need to see how I can modify by reducing the security a bit slightly.

Will see how I can implement this in the next version as it has been requested a bit and also something I’d like to use on my sites as well!

    Great – thank you.
