# Bogus Comments

 * I’m being inundated with bogus comments on my two blogs. They all lead back to
   a single Russian host. I’ve been deleting them one by one, deleting the comment
   and the user listing.
 * Are they a threat in some important way? Is there a way to block comments from
   this host?

 * You can also set your blog to require users to be registered and logged in to
   post a comment, that will make it difficult for spam bots to drop links on you.

 * Thanks for the idea. But it’s the registration process itself that is being abused
   and I don’t want to make leaving a legitimate comment difficult. I’m using wp-
   spamfree plugin that works well in keeping the comments section clean. I used
   to have issues there too.

 * So how are you being inundated with bogus comments if the plugin is keeping the
   comments section clean?
