    Hi,

I’ve seen a few blogs out there that seem to crawl the web to fetch data. A number of them have shown up as pingbacks on my own blog, which is not hosted on my own site.

How are these set up? Is there a specific name for the plug-ins or type of activity?

Also, is it possible to change account password on this forum?

    Thanks,

    techphets

I must be blind. I don’t see a ‘users’ link and when I click on the ‘view your profile linke’ there is no users link or a password link on profile, edit, or favorites pages. I searched the pages using Firefox’s find and the only time password was found was on the mailing list in the ‘subscribe to mailing list’ section.

I think techphets means to change password in wordpress.org…. I also need to know this as now I am using the machine generated code, hard to remember.

Techpets, these “Blogs” are automated robots that create a page with data from other sources. They then automatically pingback the other blogs to gain linkage.

At first sight I would classify them as SPAM and would only decide otherwise on specific, single instances. So I find it quite eager to post a question in this forum that some other user tell here how you can SPAM google and pingback-spam other blocks.

If you’re not intended to spam the web but want to syndicate other peoples stuff, think about using the RSS-Widgets.
