Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Hi,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
But now I have this problem in my second site as well.
    So doesn’t seem like a theme-specific issue.
The images randomly stop getting displayed and it shows a “?” instead of the image, I go into the WordPress admin panel, reupload the image and they work fine.

I have no idea what’s going on, as this is something quite new that I am facing.
I wrote a script for my 1st website so it removes any “.” at the end of the url and it works.
But for my 2nd website there’s something like “?abe257” appended at the end of the url.

Ok, so how about the plugins?

I haven’t tried with the plugins yet.
But there’s only 1 plugin common between both my sites- W3 Total Cache.
Can that maybe a possible cause of the issue?
Or could it be something related to .htaccess settings

    Thanks

If the dots are actually appear in the post content, it’s not .htaccess.

It could be the cache maybe. Worth deactivating all of them (disable W3TC’s cache first), then making a new test post to see what happens.

Have disabled all the cache plugins to test.
But I have to wait (don’t know how long) to see if it really helps.
Because the image load failures occur randomly on random blog posts only.

Ok, if it happens again, at least we’ll know it’s not the cache. 🙂

    Yes.
THanks a lot for your support. Really appreciate that
