    Hi Edward,

I have a situation when the client is broadcasting a custom post type that it has randomly deselecting destinations. From the client:

While reviewing the broadcast status, it shows the offer was broadcasted to only 8 or 10 markets. However, when we checked the queue, we found that the offer had been broadcasted to all markets, but the broadcast checkboxes are randomly unchecked, even though the broadcast was successfully triggered.

I have investigated this issue and have seen the issue occur. I have a debug log ready to go but it’s too big to add here. Can I email that to you?

Here are some screenshots of what things are looking like after broadcast:

The queue always seems to show 12 items:

(note this is from a different broadcast test, but results are the same).

Would you be able to provide some direction? What other information would you need to assist in narrowing down the issue?

My semi-educated guess: your queue settings are trying to broadcast too many items at once.

If you lower it down to 1 item per queue process, you should find it will manage to broadcast and link each item successfully.

If your queue settings are already set to 1 item per process, email me and I’ll show you where to upload the file. edward@plainviewplugins.com

Updating the thread: and old version of PHP / BC could be the culprit.

Testing again in a few weeks’ time.

    Hi,

We have moved to PHP 8.3 at last and are on the latest version available of Broadcast.

While I have not observed the issue since updating the client has reported that they still see it.

    ** Issue observed**

    • Added an image to the text block and saved it.
    • In some random markets, duplicate pages were generated with -2 appended at the end of the URL.
      • /my/broadcast-test-25-setp-25-2/ vs /my/broadcast-test-25-setp-25/
      • /ph/broadcast-test-25-setp-25-2/ vs /ph/broadcast-test-25-setp-25/
      • /th/broadcast-test-25-setp-25-2/ vs /th/broadcast-test-25-setp-25/
    • Any edits made were not saved on the existing page but instead were applied to the newly generated -2 page.

Page duplicates, with the -2 suffix, are almost always caused by the original page not being linked before broadcasting.

Since Broadcast doesn’t know that the existing page exists, it creates a new, linked page.

The solution is to either manually link the page using the “find unlinked children” bulk post action on the parent post, or using the Link Before Broadcast add-on which does the same thing, but automatically before broadcasting.

Thank you for the information and apologies for the delay in response.

We already had Link Before Broadcast installed and active. The -2 issue is still occurring sporadically. Would you like me to email info@plainviewplugins.com or start a new ticket for this issue as it deviates from the original post?

In the meantime, I will try using the bulk actions to work around the issue.

You can email if you wish. The duplicates issue doesn’t happen often and if it isn’t the posts being unlinked before broadcasting, then it’s something specific to your setup that I doubt will help others. πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for all of your support Ed!

As discussed we determined that Query Monitor appeared to be causing an issue with the broadcast queue.

We have done several test broadcasts and this issue appears to be fixed. We will continue to monitor the broadcasts and let you know if we see anything out of the ordinary.

I think we can tentatively mark this as solved.
