Support » Fixing WordPress » Blogroll: Adding line break between title and description

  • Resolved databell96

I’ve got it where I have a page listing content from a Blogroll category and it’s almost completed. However, I can seem to add a line break or paragraph break between the title and the description. That’s pretty frustrating. So I get my links to appear like this:

    Link Title Link Description

    whereas I want

    Link Title
    Link Description

Now, I poured through forum posts and Google trying to solve this and the closest things I have found is PHP code that’s outdated or adding a width of 100% or a fixed value to the li a and neither worked. Is there a way I can an h2 or h1 or p tag to my Blogroll code? Somewhere in functions/php or elsewhere?

  • You need to do this via CSS – not via markup.

I mentioned I tried that but it didn’t work. Tried adding a width to the li a but no luck.

Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS work.

I have it. Always use that and the Web Developer toolbar as well. I tried that method in Firebug first before I posted here. Again, my methods don’t work.

Can you post a link to the site — pretty hard for anyone to offer specific help without seeing the problem live.

it is understandable if you don’t want to show your unfinished site in public, but there is no way anybody can make any useful suggestions loooking at a site which is just showing ‘is coming soon’

Sorry about that. I completely forgot I used the Under Construction plugin there. That’s a new one to me, so my bad.

I did find the solution in the interim in an old copy of the WP Bible. I needed to add between=
to create the line break. Thanks for the assistance and the issue is resolved.
