Support » Plugin: Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP » BlogPosting: refresh of author name is not working

  • Hello,

I noticed that the author name of a post is not dynamically updated in the blog posting schema admin screen.

Usecase: I create a post via my admin account, with author name “admin” (an example). When I go to the fetched auto values of the blog posting schema, I see indeed “admin” as value for attribute “Author Name”. All good.

Now I change the author name of my post to “User1”. I save the post as a draft, I restore to auto fetch, and I look again at the fetched values. I still see “admin” as user name. I expect to see the author name “User1”. I need to change manually the author name. Quite annoying.

Do you have the same behaviour?

    Plugin version: 1.9.54.1
    WP 5.5.3

    Thanks,

    Didier.

    Hello,

The problem is on the admin backend, not in the front. The generated Schema is good with the good author.

It is the refresh in the Schema section that does not represent the author. My user clicked to see the generated values from the “auto fetch” and the author was not correct. So she thinks that the author is not correct in the generated schema. As said, the generated schema is correct.

Please check if you have the same problem in WP admin.

I cannot provide you with admin access to our website.

    Thanks,

    Didier.

Can you please let us know step-by-step procedure to recreate the issue? We will try to recreate the issue and help you resolve it.

OK, so here are the steps:

    1. create a new post via the admin user
    2. check the Schema generated autofetch values, and check for the author name. It should be your admin user of step #1
    3. save and keep the post as draft
    4. modify the author of the post (pick another user)
    5. save and keep the post as draft
    6. click on the Schema “restore auto fetch” button
    7. check the Schema generated autofetch values, and check for the author name. The author is still the admin user, not the new user.

Once you click on “Restore auto fetch” the original author name (Author who created the post) will be added to the markup generated, It will replace custom values with default values.

But that’s exactly the bug. This is NOT working. I tried it again. The author name never changes in the Schema data in the post admin screen. It does NOT match with the author of the post.

Were you able to reproduce it following my detailed steps? I can reproduce it in 2 minutes with the latest plugin version 1.9.58.

    Thanks,

    Didier.
