Support » Plugin: Genesis Simple Sidebars » Blog pages not accepting new sidebar

  • Hi everyone,

I just downloaded and installed Simple Sidebars to use with my Genesis framework. I created a few sidebars and used them with no problems on some of my wordpress pages. Now the problem I’m having is on my Blog page and posts I want to use a Blog sidebar. I created the sidebar and selected it on my blog page, but it still shows the default sidebar, as do most of the blog posts. What should I do?

What version of Genesis & WP are you using? How did you set up your blog page?

I’m using WordPress 3.5.1 and Genesis 1.9.1 Here’s a link to the blog http://dev.databaseusa.com/sales-tips-blog/ Thanks for any help!

Since that’s a dev site, try turning off all your plugins except simple sidebars.

Hi Ron, I deactivated all the plugins except Simple sidebars, and Brafton article loader (because that gives me the content for my blog). The problem is still there. I can change the sidebar on any of the pages, but on the blog it will not change.

For the blog I created a page and changed the layout to the Blog Template. Would this have anything to do with it? Also, I found some articles about how to use your plugin and they say to register the sidebar in the functions.php file and even to create a sidebar-blog.php, so I did this also.

Thank you so much for your help.

I don’t know if you resolved this candy_cayn – I found this thread while trying to solve the same problem myself.
I was unable to fix it per se, but my workaround was to simply use the default sidebar for the Blog Page, and use the Simple Sidebars for the other pages.
