My site is set up as a website not a blog. I want to have one page that functions as a blog. I added a Post, gave it a Title and a Category and posted to the page. The post has posted ‘By’ and ‘Published’ date below the title the way a blog looks. In my settings > reading the setting ‘Blog pages show at most’ is set to 10.

I do not know how to add a second post to the blog page with its own posted ‘By’ and ‘Published’ date. When I try to add ‘New Post’ a second blog page/post is created (with new title required) and a link is put in the original blog page to the new post – new blog page.

    Thank you for your time.

  • What is “Front page displays” (first field on the “Reading” dashboard page) set to?

“A static page” should be checked, and a page named “Home” should be selected for “Front page” and a page named “Blog” selected for “Post pages”

Create those pages if you don’t have them already.

    Thank you for your response.

in Front page displays a static pages is selected but the page name in not home page. It is the websites landing page. Only once, but at some time in the future I would very much like to change which page is the landing page.

in Posts page: the select option only gives me the static pages – not the blog/post page. The Post page only appears in ‘All Posts’ in the admin menu, not in ‘All Pages’

    Thank you for your time

Create a new PAGE (not post) and name it “Blog”. Leave it blank, be sure to press “Publish”.

Go to Settings > Reading and select that new page you named “Blog” as the second field value (Posts page).

I think this is what you need to do, but you’re not being to clear as to what you want to do, and what you have now.

Thank you for your response. Sorry about the delay in responding.

I created a new page titled ‘Blog’, left the page blank and published it. In Settings > Reading > Post pages I selected the page I titled ‘Blog’. In Settings > Reading I left a static page checked and below > Front page I left my landing page selected. When viewed the page I titled ‘Blog’ has no content, no page title and I am not logged into my website but I am still logged in when I view the static pages on my website.

I have a website that has all static pages and I would like to add one page that is a blog page – functions like a blog.

    Thank you for your time

    Hi,

It appears the problem I am having does not have to do with putting a blog page on my site but with something else. Possibly a conflict with another plugin or the fact my sites landing page is not named home so on a test site I am going to try different things and try to work it out that way.

Thank you for your time, thank you for your help.

    Jerry
