• Am trying to create a link to the Blog in the top nav menu. However, everything I have tried has failed.

What do I need to link to in order to achieve this? I’ve tried linking to “archives” and get a 404 page. I’ve tried creating a Blog page, but it doesn’t automatically understand and I get a blank page. I’ve tried linking to the category “content” (my main blog category) – doesn’t work. Everything that has worked on every other site isn’t working.

Please tell me how to do this. What is the correct url to link to?

    Thanks for your help.

Let me make sure that I’ve understood you correctly.
    – You have a front page already set up, and
    – you want to have a another page with only your blog posts on it.

If that’s correct, then you can define the pages in the Settings –> Reading settings

You do need to create a blank page to point the Reading settings.

After that, you can control what appears in your main navigation menu by going to Appearance –> Menus

No, I don’t want a static front page. I’m happy to leave the front page as it is. But I want a link in the top Nav to all blog posts, as most sites have.

Per your suggestion, I tried setting the Posts page to my created Blog page in the Reading settings, then setting it back to Show Blog Posts (rather than static front page), to see if that would connect the dots, but still no go.

Most themes I’ve used either automatically recognized a Page entitled Blog and directed all blog posts there after its created and added to the menu, or the theme already had a Blog link in the top nav. This one doesn’t seem to have any way to do that. Most sites have a link to the blog in their top nav and this is fairly expected by users. That’s what I’m trying to achieve.

Then that setting is the correct one. I don’t understand where the issue is.

    – Create a blank page call Blog,
    – go to Settings –> Reading –> set the Post Page to Blog,
    – Save settings

    – Go to Appearance –> Menus
    – Add the link to the top-nav menus,
    – Save menus, done.

I don’t understand why you set it back. What are you trying to achieve anyway?

I thought you want to have
    – a page name “Blog” that show all blog posts,
    – that you could link to it in the top navigation.

This is exactly what the settings in my screenshot does.

Yes, I do. But I DON’T want a static front page which is required for what you are suggesting. If I do as you suggest, it creates the desired Blog page, but it also makes the front page a blog page. What I want is for the front page to remain as it is – with all features of the Arcade theme, then a Blog link that links to all blog posts.

If I set the the blog page in the Reading Settings, all the Arcade theme front page features disappear, because it has to be set to Static Front Page in order for this to work. See this screenshot.

Front Page with blog page set in Reading settings

Here is what the front page looks like when it’s set to Show Latest Posts, which is what we want.

    Desired Front Page

    See what I’m saying?

Based on the demo site from their official site, they are using a static front page for Home. They’re utilizing Post Block page template.

Beyond Post Block is outside the theme’s capability, I afraid.

    Ah! The missing ingredient.

Thank you very much. Not sure I ever would have figured that out myself. Where did you find that on their site?

That creates a slightly different problem, but no worries. I can customize the post-block page to my liking.

Thank you so much for persevering. I greatly appreciate it.
