  • When I try to post something, or whenever I try to log on as admin, I get a 404 error. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Is this a fresh install ?
And a link to your site please.

    No it’s an upgrade. http://www.orthodoxytoday.org/blog
    Thank you.

BTW, when I try to log in as admin, I get to the password page (although the little box disappeared and the form input boxes are in the left hand corner of the page), but it goes to my 404 error page too.

I see your blog, and I see the admin css file.
Did you update by deleting all the wp files first then uploading new, and finally running /upgrade.php ?
If not, you may have some transfer error with the files.

No, I didn’t delete anything. I saved some files (index.php, .css, etc.) but overwrote everything else.
If I delete everything and do a complete new reinstall (I would save index and layout), would it work? Do I have to do anything with the databases on the server or can I just put the correct name in the config file (maybe I could just save that too). I really don’t want to mess with the databases since I have no idea what I am doing there.
What do you think is the best way to fix this?

Have any worries after reading that, post back 🙂

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks

I did it all according to the directions, but I still have the exact same problem. I deleted everything, even the .htaccess file (could the problem be there?)
    The only files I replaced where index.php, layout.css, and config.php. and hacks.php.
The problem is still 404’s on “say it” and admin login. Also, that little login box at the center of the page has disappeared leaving the two form input boxes on the left hand top side.

By replaced, I mean the only files I kept from the first install and brought back in after the second clean install.

I also notice that my header does not show the index page in the link, but the page it is on.
