# Blog Level Security

 * Hey guys, quick question…I am using Yahoo to host my blog and it came with WordPress
   2.3.3.
 * Not sure if I want to upgrade, because we’ve got a pretty strong following now
   and I’m not ready yet to derail that momentum…any rate, we want to enable site
   level security in order to capture the email addresses for the people looking
   at our site.
 * Does anyone have any advice on this? I already read the WordPress FAQ and it 
   was not specific to my situation.

 * Upgrade. Moving from 2.3 to 2.5 should be painless, unless you’re using some 
   not-so common plugin or theme.

 * Capture email addresses? Capture email addresses? That’s so very “black hat.”
   For example, spammers _capture_ email addresses by scraping sites. So, don’t 
   even think about it.
 * I’m guessing that you read somewhere that browsers can send email addresses when
   requesting web pages and such. Modern browsers don’t do this and in the HTTP/
   1.1 spec, such stuff is opt-in anyway.

 * He probably just mean having the visitors to enter their email address, not “
   capturing” them in the way you described (XSS?). Maybe you are right though, 
   I don’t read minds (yet).
