Blog is down — compatibility with ReadyHosting?

I have had no problems with my blog until this week, and now it is suddenly down. I can’t access the back end, either (which is why I can’t be completely sure which version of WordPress I’m running — it would have been whatever was most current in August of 2011). I have not added any new plug-ins in several months; the theme is TwentyEleven. ReadyHosting is trying to diagnose at their end, but they’ve just had to upgrade the ticket after their initial attempts failed. They suggested I try the support forum here.

This is the message I got from ReadyHosting: “I suggest that you re-install the wordpress of the domain ‘tsgnyblog.org’ and then check the website functionality.”
Can someone please explain to me how I would do that, since I can’t get the wp-admin page on my blog to open?

You can login to your site or use FTP and re-install WordPress latest version. Perhaps, the technical support of your host can also help you.

Krishha, the web host is telling me to reinstall WordPress but also that I will lose all my previous posts if I do that. Is that true?

Do you have a backup of your site? If not ask your host to provide you with one. All good hosting companies help with backups.

I don’t have a backup, and I’m far too tired to try to follow their complicated instructions on how to do it (every step they told me seemed to require three other prerequisite steps). But I will try again tomorrow when I can think straight. Thank you.
