Support » Fixing WordPress » blog images wont align, text wont float around them

  • Resolved jehuty

    Hey guys & girls, i run a blog at the address, i’m fairly new to wordpress, and im definatly no whizz when it comes to coding etc but i know the basics.

    I run a custom premium theme called diabolik from themeforest and everything is running smoothly except for a minor issue which is really irritating me in blog posts.

    I wish to have text float around images to the left and right of my article, however using basic html coding (align, center, float etc) doesnt work, the image always goes to the left or text doesnt float around it just leaves a big space to the side of the image. even centering the image doesnt work the image defaults to the left, with or without a caption.

    i know this problem has probably cropped up before and i have searched around the net and found mention of the possibility of some css coding missing. I have attempted to rectify the issue myself by copy and pasting this coding but it hasnt worked, code is displayed in the post or has completely messed everything up.

    i really need help with this as it makes my page look unprofessional and i really need to make an impact to bring in my target audience.

    hope you can help me. if you need images of the list of php files in the editor etc i’ll be happy to upload and post.

    thanks for your time and help all.

  • Hi Tom,

    I’m unfamiliar with your theme… however, have you checked to see if the theme provider has a support forum for users? You would probably do much better asking there, as they would have much more experience with the theme.

    Let me know if you are unsuccessful, and I can try to take a closer look for you.

    @josh no the designer himself hasnt, ive contacted him directly and recieved no response

    @songdogtech added that code before and tried again, doesnt work, the style.css page has only this in it before i add the code

    Theme Name: Diabolik
    Theme URI:
    Author: Devilcantburn
    Author URI:
    Description: An awesome theme for your business
    Version: 1.5
    License: GNU General Public License
    License URI: GPL.txt
    Tags: fixed-width, custom-header, custom-background, threaded-comments, sticky-post, translation-ready, microformats, rtl-language-support, editor-style, custom-menu

    im assuming the php file single post “single.php” is used for blog posts in my theme, however i have added the same code to this and it still doesnt work, instead code is visible or sometimes the page is distorted.

    @jehuty: Well, themeforest themes can be very non-standard in terms of WP theme structure and can be garbage in terms of quality. Look deeper in the theme folder for other style sheets, like default.css, etc. The theme is using a style sheet other than style.css.

    would custom_css.php be one? its the only other file in the editor that mentions css

    scratch that, been looking and found a few more, just truing to identify what each one does…

    ok update…

    found 2 css files, one called main and one called main_old

    discovered this line..

    --------------------------------------- [ IMAGE ALIGN ] */
    		margin:4px 15px 0 0;
    		margin:4px 0 0 15px;

    presuming this is the line to replace with the code you pointed me to @songdogtech? and upload via ftp? file seems to make mention of lots of things, the slider, widgets etc throughout. am i on the right track?

    songdogtech i could kiss you, i went in like a bull in a china shop and changed the code and it appears to work! thanks so much! have an eectronic imaginary cookie on me 🙂
