Blog getting a lot of spam. Thoughts?

So we moved our blog onto our website yesterday. Today, more so the past several hours, I have noticed a lot of spam comments are comming in. Most are just random letters, as if a kid was punching the keyboard. Any idea on why all of a sudden we are getting so much spam? Also, any way to resolve this?

Would hate to have to weed through spam comments all day while trying to conduct business

When our site was hosted on wordpress.com we didnt’ get half as much spam as we have gotten today.
