What you’re seeing is normal behavior for WordPress excerpts. They are designed to not run shortcodes. I did a search online and found a couple suggestions you may want to review (I have not tried these myself)

Thank you, Mike.
I have almost driven myself crazy over this, but it worked finally. I must add that it only worked on the specially added excerts, not the automatic ones, but that is a small thing, really.
Thanks again,
Vera
Mike,
I have another question.
I have a plugin for Newsletter and it inserts the excerpt of the post into its theme.
However, for some reason, I can see “View at Picasa” under the thumbnails in the excertps, which do not appear in the regular excerpt blog view.
How do I remove it?
Thank you again for your assistance,
Vera
Can you show me an example?
Sure, only how? Is Printscreen OK or would you like access? Then I would need your mail…
Also, I don’t see any attachment adding possibility.
Ok – I wasn’t sure if there was a web page where I could see the newsletter – sounds like it’s an email. Send me a message through my contact form at http://toppa.com/contact and then we can email each other.
