  • Hi,
I have created a new web page that I would like to use as my blog site’s homepage.

-It would be good to easily change in and out of the template’s index and this other file.
-The new page needs to display the latest blog post (the full text, and title/author etc. as if you were viewing a single post).
-I only want the minimal amount of code to do that.
-On the other half of the website I’d also like to display a tag cloud (think I need a plugin for that anyway).

    How can I do that?
    Thanks for any help.

  • In your present version (2.3 – upgrade, btw, at least to 2.3.3 for security!) you have the option to use a Page as your front/home page: admin > Options > Reading.
Why not use that? (and select another Page as your “posts page”)
    Wouldn’t that work for you?

argh, I tried upgrading and got

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_shortcode_regex() in /home/nomoscom/public_html/livingwithdragons/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 95

    Where should get_shortcode_regex be?

That means some files did not make it to the server or got demaged. Try uploading the wp-includes folder again…
