We’re having issues with the block feature for YouTube embeds. When the placeholder setting is active, Chrome users are experiencing random “Aw, Snap!” page crashes. Unfortunately information regarding this Chrome bug seems very scarce. It’s apparent this is a bug in Chrome, not your plugin. Nevertheless this specific feature of your plugin is triggering the bug.
I’m using Gutenberg (the latest version, via the official plugin) embeds. We’ve seen this behavior on Windows, Linux and MacOS on the latest version of Chrome (Version 86.0.4240.111 (Official Build) (x86_64) on MacOS).
I’m also seeing this warning in the console
Resource interpreted as Document but transferred with MIME type video/mp4: "https://<REDACTED>/wp-content/plugins/complianz-gdpr/assets/video/youtube-placeholder.mp4?cmplz=1".
This is not the case in Firefox or Safari.
I can provide you with a test URL if you’d like, but privately, not here.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Can you tell me how many videos are loaded after consent?
If you want to share your URL privately, please use complianz.io/contact/
Just a single video, I made a test page so no other content really on the page.
I’ve sent the link to you privately.
Thanks, we will post the solution for the community here.
I replied as well:)
It’s concerning the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/native-lazyload/. This will break in Chrome, if YouTube is blocked for before consent.
Please know it’s compatible up to WP 5.3.4 before installing, and deactivate if using YouTube as a service.
Complianz will look for a way to strip the attributes if needed.
