Hi, shouldn’t the plugin block YouTube videos without user consent?

    Thank you,

    Umberto

    Hi @bruce86,

Yes embedded YouTube video’s require the visitor to consent to marketing cookies before they can be displayed (in the EU and UK). If you enable the YouTube integration in the wizard -> cookies -> integrations or Complianz -> Integrations -> Services, most implementations should be blocked out of the box.

If your implementation is not blocked with these settings enabled, please share your URL or tell us how you have embedded the YouTube video. You can share your URL privately under ‘the page I need help with’.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    Hi Leon,

I’m using the Elementor features, I just insert the link (Lightbox).

You can click on the image at the top right or on the image/button by clicking on “Anime” (scroll down to the index).

    Thank you,

    Umberto

    Hi @bruce86,

I can’t see the URL, could you share it? Is this concerning the media carousel or a video block?

    regards Aert

    Hi @bruce86,

    I see it’s a link to a video lightbox.

In this case, YouTube cookies will only be loaded if the user starts playing the video. The placeholder is not set in a lightbox, I can have a look if this might be possible.

For now, YouTube is blocked before consent, but there’s not a notice before playing the video. Which is a friendly reminder for the user,

    I will have a look,

    regards Aert

    Hi Aert,

Thank you, should I do something or stand by?

    @bruce86 Please stand-by!

    Hi @bruce86,

We parse HTML to look for YouTube videos, and if a placeholder is needed a <div> element relating to the YouTube video. In this case, the parsing doesn’t find any related div element, because it is hidden until the lightbox is activated.

We will revert this issue to Elementor, to connect with our Consent API. Until then, your current situation does not load YouTube cookies before consent.

For more information about the Consent API: wptavern.com/proposal-to-add-a-consent-api-to-wordpress-feature-plugin-available

    regards Aert

PS: If you like, you can drop a ticket at Elementor, with this issue:-)
