Hi @gracemusic1 ,
Thank you for reaching out.
I suspect there’s a conflict that’s causing the issue here. It would be good to test for conflicts. Could you follow the following steps?
- Deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar Plugins.
- Switching to the Default theme (preferably the twenty-twenty-one theme).
Please read the Testing for Conflicts Article before doing anything.
To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website
Sorry, I’m a bit loathe to carry out those experiments. It’s all a bit above my paygrade. Unless, there’s a solution offered without that, I’ll have to live with it.
Hi @gracemusic1 ,
Thank you for your message.
I understand the conflict testing is quite a process. — Based on my testing, even the default WordPress theme (i.e. twenty-twenty-one) is adding the quote marks or symbols on block quotes for regular posts or pages. Thus, I suspect a third-party plugin or the theme itself is responsible for removing the quote marks but it is unable to remove them for event post types because they’re custom post types that the plugin or the theme may not have a knowledge of.
I hope that makes sense. Please feel free to let me know how you go or if you have further questions/concerns.
Thanks for investigating further. I think I understand: the quote marks are the default but are removed in some instances like my News post https://markisaacs.com/saxophone-sonata-world-premiere-extemporisations/. It doesn’t seem this will happen with event posts in TEC.
That’s correct, @gracemusic1 .
