Support » Plugin: Stop Spammers Security | Block Spam Users, Comments, Forms » Block list doesn’t work at all

I run a small ecommerce site using Woocommerce. There is no comment section, but I keep getting spammed through the contact form. None of the block lists do anything to stop it. User name, spam words, url shortening, TLDS, none of them do a single thing.

Although Stop Spammers attempts to protect all forms, because of the wide variety of plugins and ways in which forms can be implemented, there’s no guarantee.

What contact form plugin are you using?

Here’s an example of a contact form that is fully compatible with the protections of Stop Spammers:

I’m using Contact Form 7 and have Honeypot enabled for it.

Yes, unfortunately CF7 is one of those contact forms that works in a way that Stop Spammers can’t protect it by default. We have to specially hook into it and obviously, with CF7 being the most popular contact form plugin, we are working on it. Right now though, you’ll need to make a change. Sorry.

    Does Contact Form Zero work?

Yes, I’ve made sure that it does. That said, you should still test it out and make sure it works for your needs.

The easiest way to test that the spam filter is working is to:

    1. Use Tor: https://www.torproject.org/ (this ensures that your IP is different from your main IP that’s already been whitelisted).

    2. After installing and opening up Tor, without logging in, visit your contact page.

    3. Now attempt to submit the form, adding in any spam word that appears in your Spam Words Lists, and if it triggers the request form, it’s working.

Are there other contact forms that Stop Spammers works with. One that actually shows up in the installable plug in list of WordPress? Because despite it’s supposed simplicity I can’t for the life of me make Contact Form Zero work on my site at all.

You’re certainly welcome to ask for support if you’re having problems:

Or try one of the others:

Sorry, I can’t vouch for any one in particular.
